Bridge, the world's best social mind game, offers many brain health benefits. Research has shown that regular participation in bridge can enhance memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills, making it an ideal activity for seniors seeking to maintain and even improve their mental acuity.
Bridge for Brain Health is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping seniors unlock the health benefits of playing bridge, and experience the joy of playing the world's best social mindsport. Studies show Neurogenesis, the formation of new brain cells, and neuroplasticity, the brain’s adaptability and ability to rewire itself, occurs at all ages.
We offer the following services to use bridge as a vehicle promote mental well being.
- Hosting social bridge games: Offering social games where seniors can gather, socialize, and enjoy friendly competition in a welcoming environment.
- Bridge Lessons: Our experienced instructors offer lessons for all levels of players. These lessons provide valuable learning opportunities and foster a sense of camaraderie among participants. Our teaching approach is based on Professor Carol Dweck's research on growth mindsets.
- Sanctioned Bridge Games: Organize sanctioned bridge games to provide residents with the chance to put their skills to the test and compete against peers from other communities.
Our bridge lessons promote a Growth Mindset which accelerates learning and increases resiliency (see Professor Carol Dweck's Mindset book). As bridge students learn how to apply a Growth Mindset and realize the benefits, they are positioned to apply a Growth Mindset to other challenges to improve their quality of life.
